Sinbad: Beyond the Veil of Mists

USA 2000

"Sinbad..." Is the first feature film by a software company from India using "motion capture", usually used in computer games. Touted as a B - rated film, it still has many positive qualities: realistic Arabian facial features, high quality imagination and amazing concept design. Work on this was begun in 1999.

Synopsis:
Sinbad the sailor and his crew give passage "Beyond the Veil of Mists" to the young Princess Serena. It seems that a sorcerer named Baraka posed as a near-drowning victim on the beach near the palace in order to gain an audience with King Chandra. Baraka cast a spell on the king which made them switch identities and, in the likeness of the king, Baraka placed the true king in prison. Serena saw it all happen, and has torn a page from Baraka's spell book on which a map to the Veil of Mists is drawn. Beyond the veil, is where a magical place exists; a place where the necessary potion for the reversal of the spell is hidden.
Along the voyage, the audience will be very pleased with the imagination of the artists. Several scenes stand out in detail: escaping the waterfall, the underwater maze, rivers that flow uphill, and the colony of fish-people that farm giant mushrooms.
If you watch this difficult-to-find video solely to hear Mark's voice-over, you'll be disappointed. The captain of the guard has only a handful of lines. If, however, you can see beyond what you came to hear, you may enjoy this after all!
