Slip Stream

USA 1989
Starring: Mark Hamill, Bill Paxton, F. Murray Abraham, Bob Peck

Synopsys:
This is a story about someone who needed a friend.

Our story begins with a chase, but the one you think is the good guy is actually a fugitive. He's half-man, half-robot, an android, and he snapped a man's neck in two like a twig. The pursuers are the law and his assistant, Tasker and Belitsky. (Many reviews say Mark is a bounty hunter, but he is actually the lawman, and he has a badge to prove it! Bill Paxton, or his character, Matt Owen, is the bounty hunter).

Matt takes the opportunity and snatches Byron (the android) from the hands of Will Tasker, hoping to make a profit by turning in the fugitive. As Slipstream continues, Matt begins to know Byron and their friendship grows, in spite of crossing paths with Will Tasker several times. They rest and refuel in several settlements, each with beliefs more bizarre than the last. In the end, the lines of friendship are crossed over and back, then redrawn.

Filmed largely in Turkey, this film has gorgeous scenery similar to the canyons and mountains of our own Rocky Mountains. Be ready to take a few flights through the canyons on wingtip. Will Tasker, a very sexy Mark with blond hair and a full beard, is more a supportive character than lead. Watch him anyway!!
