Lazerhawk

USA 1997
Starring: Mark Hamill

Plot:

There is something out there, and these kids are our last chance for survival.

Ever been told by someone that because of your wacky dreams, you must be an alien?? That is what happened to Robert Sheridan, (a.k.a. Mark). A perfectly normal guy - claims adjuster, wife, kids, dog, nice car - goes to a therapist for help. Under hypnosis, Bob reveals details, not of dreams, but of memories. He is a 250-million year old alien from the planet Xeno 9 and the last thing he remembers is a gas leak on his ship. He's only told two people since then. One was his wife, who promptly had him locked up in a "space" academy, i.e. a nut house. The second was Rodney Peristanko, the janitor at Bob's new residence. Rodney thought all these stories, which he video taped as Bob talked, sounded like "a bad comic book." He wrote it anyway under the name M.K. Ultra and the two issues became top sellers… but that is all Bob remembers. Now what?? The publishers are breathing down his neck for issue three!!
Well, it just so happens that there is an alien scouting expedition going on in a small Wisconsin town, that very closely resembles the tactics of the Xenoids. One of the town's teens, Zach creates alien ships for sport and Cara, another teen-resident is a lover of "The Dark Ones", M. K. Ultra's comics. They join with Bob and M.K. to try to head off the invasion within the next 72 hours. How do you know they're (Xenoids) coming? Bob tells them, "When an 8 foot arach (arachnid) shoves a claw down your throat and rips your heart out, that's your first clue!"
A word to the squeamish: nothing gory shows on screen; it is only mentioned in a few conversations, so I think you are safe.
