Philip Donaldson (Mark) is a lonely and very troubled teenager who lives in the Delancey Street Halfway House in San Francisco, California. A former San Quentin inmate and new Delancey Street resident, Bob Holtzmann (Michael Conrad), befriends Philip. Bob is the first person Philip feels he can trust and they form a father-son type relationship.
Eventually, Philip takes Bob home to meet his parents. Following an ugly scene during which Philip’s mother calls his relationship with Bob sick, Philip flees in a fit of rage and despair. He arms himself with one of his father’s rifles and hides out in a tower, threatening to shoot anyone who comes near him. Finally, Bob reaches Philip and is able to talk him into resolving the situation peacefully.
