Circumstancial Evidence

USA 1976
Starring: Mark Hamill, Raymond Burr, A Martinez

Synopsys:
A young man, Joe Celli (Mark), argues with his uncle, and then drives off in his uncle’s car without his permission. Even though Joe calls his uncle and tells him he’ll return the car soon, his uncle wants to teach the boy a lesson and tells the police that Joe has stolen his car. The lesson goes too far, though, when Joe is thrown into jail with hardened criminals – criminals who find Joe very attractive. They threaten Joe, and warn him not to refuse their attentions. Mallory (Raymond Burr) is called in to take on Joe’s case. Although he cannot get the car theft charge against Joe dropped, Mallory starts working to get Joe moved out of the threatening situation in the jail. Unfortunately, the day before Joe is to be moved, another prisoner traps Joe in a storeroom and attempts to (ahem) bestow his attentions upon him. In desperation, Joe fights back and ends up killing the other prisoner. Only after this event does Joe’s uncle realize he made a big mistake in sending Joe to jail, so he finally cooperates with Mallory in Joe’s defense, and eventually Joe is cleared of all charges and released from jail.
