Walking Across Egypt
Premiere in Milwaukee (Wisconsin)My son and I met Mark at the public "meet and greet" that he did in Milwaukee at the Blockbuster Video store in Brookfield WI. (My nine year old son) Aaron was extremely excited to meet his idol Mark Hamill, and it was quite a day for him. We waited for 2 hours in 28 degree weather, but Aaron didn't care. Mark was at the end of the wait so it was OK.
When we did get our turn with Mark, he was very gratious and courteous with Aaron. He called him by name and asked him questions about his age and year in school. He also posed so well and friendly with Aaron that it was touching. As one father looking on, I could tell Mark was also a father who understood what was going on in Aaron's mind. Aaron now has his picture of him with Mark, and it is one of his most prized collectibles. We will be getting it enlarged and framed. I agree with the decision at this event that a photo would be a better thing to take away than an autograph. Of course, Mark may have appreciated it more if we came to see him for his new movie, but obviously as a nine year old Aaron was coming to see Luke Skywalker. Aaron is a huge fan of the movies and of the integrity, courage, and caring of the Luke Skywalker character. It was very nice to see that these same qualities transferred to real life with Mark.
